As a Technical Animator / Rigger, you will work closely with the animation, art, and engine teams to enhance character animation and performance for our new PC-first cross-platform PvEvP game. You will play a key role in building a technical animation pipeline both robust and artistically satisfying, ensuring our animations meet the project’s vision and standards. Your work will support the integration of animations into Unreal Engine, as well as troubleshooting any technical challenges that arise.
Key responsibilities:
- Integration and setup of animation assets in UE5
- Working with skeletons, physics assets, and control rigs
- Create and skin high-quality character and creature rigs in Maya
- Establish a robust pipeline along with the animation director.
- Prototyping, documenting, and problem-solving
- Create custom tools and scripts to increase the productivity and efficiency for the animation team.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in UE
- Portfolio demonstrating advanced rigging and skinning skills, with a focus on video game assets.
- Extensive practical experience in technical animation
- Ability to set up and animate characters in Maya
- Clear understanding of animation principles, methods, and processes
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines.
Will be a plus:
- Experience with Lyra: solid experience with Unreal Engine animation systems (Animation Blueprint Layers, Animation Multi-threading, and improvements specific to UE5)
- Keyframe animation skills and the ability to prototype using your own animations.
